Job Purpose and Mission

This job contributes to Starbucks success by enabling The Global Coffee Alliance to successfully develop and expand the Starbucks brand to consumers in markets across the world. The global product and marketing manager supports the development of category leading innovation, creates premium and differentiated marketing, packaging and AHC product experiences. Additionally, this senior manager will support in driving key strategic growth initiatives and develop best in class processes that enable a consistent and elevated execution in each market. This role holds a major responsibility in managing, building and influencing the relationship with Nestle, and synchronizing strategies and plans across the Starbucks enterprise enabling globalization where relevant.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Act as thought leader with Nestle to lead development of longer-term strategies for GCA marketing and communications. Includes defining and agreeing the annual communications plans, supporting agencies with briefings and brand immersions.
- Collaborate with Nestle to lead the development of 10+ marketing communications campaigns for the international GCA markets (outside of NA). Includes above the line, shopper marketing and internal communications campaigns.
- With Nestle manage the global Signature Chocolate platform, includes owning the 3-year strategy and business plan and orchestrating product development, packaging, and marketing to deliver the agreed plan.
- Manage the GCA international line extensions and seasonal limited time offering program. Includes orchestrating the product development, packaging, and marketing workstreams to deliver the plans on time.
- As part of global team be front line for international partners representing needs on the GCA business in their markets
- Collaborate with global cross functional teams across levels (mainly Seattle based) to drive alignment and buy in on amplifying the Starbucks brand though AHC in CPG channels.
- Be a leading brand steward, championing brand guardrails, ensuring ‘on brand’ plans and brand expression across creative, innovation and packaging and facilitating deep brand understanding amongst Nestle teams
- Be a key driver to the development of a strong, long-term relationship with Nestle, acting as the Brand conduit between Starbucks and the Global Nestle business unit, ensuring alignment and enabling strong collaboration
- Closely collaborate with Starbucks retail to drive One Brand approach while informing and influencing teams globally along the way
- Develop new processes & frameworks to enable GCA to efficiently operationalize and execute aligned strategies and plans
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Extensive innovation, product, marketing, and packaging experience (5+ years)
- Ability to build excellent relationships cross functionally with both internal & external teams
- Excellent communicator with strong ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Builds trust and influences and collaborates across levels, regions, and cultures
- Brand custodian who is passionate about championing the consumer and building / nurturing the brand
- Drives dynamic decision-making balancing insights with real world experience and knowledge
- Entrepreneurial and creative, leads to create certainty from ambiguity
- Leads independently yet ensures alignment across the organization
- Significant Starbucks experience beneficial
