Partner resources director – retail licensing EMEA
Job Purpose and Mission

We have bold ambitions and this enterprise leadership role, reporting into the vp PRO EMEA, will contribute to the success of the EMEA region by leading, influencing and elevating the retail partner resources strategy across all licensed markets outside of the UK market in order to create an environment where partners can thrive and grow their careers. Ultimately, this role will be responsible for ensuring a strong & differentiated partner strategy is in place across all licensee markets in order to deliver our EMEA vision and goals.
A member of the EMEA PRO leadership team and the lead business partner & thought leader providing strategic HR business partnering to the vp & general managers responsible for delivering the EMEA financial plans and elevating the customer and partner experience.
Leading a small team, this role contributes to Starbucks success by being an integral developer of the PRO strategy that enhances the mission, purpose, core values, Starbucks culture, and deliverables of the organisation across over 40 markets. This partner contributes to assigned business unit’s success by aligning Starbucks Partner Resources functions and shared services with other strategic drivers in the organization. He/she models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Key Job Dimensions & Scope of Role
- Leader of EMEA PRO licensing team
- Strategic PRO leader and enterprise business leader with responsibility for a clear & cohesive partner strategy that is in partnership with Starbucks licensees in all markets
- Starbucks brand ambassador, coach and lead for the PRO peer licensee counterparts
- PRO leader and business coach to VP & GM’s responsible for retail licensing
- Leader to a small direct team, indirect leader & coach to many
- Monthly travel
Summary of Key Responsibilities
- Strategic business partner, business coach & thought leader to the vp & GM’s – providing in year and beyond PRO strategic direction including OD support and ongoing capability building with the licensing leadership teams
- Responsible for ensuring strong partner strategies are in place in all markets which ensure delivery of the Starbucks brand expectations and give confidence on planful delivery of growth & succession plans
- Influencer, coach, thought leader and collaborator with PRO leader counterparts in licensee markets. Creates a strong PRO community and acts as the key point of contact for PRO EMEA
- Advocate of brand programmes – such as community impact grants, learning & development, ED&I, ESG
- Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results.
- Supports & ensures the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage.
- An integral leader and contributor to the annual joint business plans that ensures cohesion, aspiration and alignment with all key business & people drivers
- Plans, influences and manages business unit and department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives in support of a licensed operating model
- Partners with the COE teams in PRO to ensure timely and easy access of materials and tools are available for licensee partners. Helps influence the COE strategic work to benefit and elevate the support to green apron partners.
- Provides insight for future work through gaining feedback, data (macro-economic, licensee data, country specific) to help develop future strategies in our pursuit to the be the employer brand of choice in the industry in EMEA
- Brand ambassador helping to always protect and elevate the partner brand across the markets – helping to advise and mitigate risk to brand reputation
- Consults with appropriate Partner Resources teams, customers and legal department on all retail partner relations concerns and complaints to ensure prompt response, consistency, and compliance with internal policies and procedures and external employment laws and regulations. Conducts and provides direction to Partner Resources consultants relating to investigations for employment-related claims.
- Leads on the key data points that indicate the health of the partner strategies in all markets – ensuring accurate & timely data, reviews the outputs and creates insights to help develop future plan
- Provides advice and consultative support to senior management to ensure performance management, staffing, succession planning, and learning and development strategies support business unit goals.
- Culturally aware business leader, able to adapt style of thought leadership to reflect different cultures and markets
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Advanced experience in consulting and working with senior leaders across different countries in the EMEA region, ideally with deep retail or food and beverage experience.
- Proven HR generalist with expertise in coaching, development of strong succession and pipeline planning, change management, cultural design and execution and OD
- Business coach & leadership experience beyond HR
