Job Purpose and Mission
This key manager role within the broader Category and R&D team contributes to Starbucks success by leadership and management of all technical aspects of existing beverage products and NPD. This role is responsible for technical product development, information set-up, assessments and management – as well as delivering key R&D business initiatives.
Working closely with Beverage Developers, QA and Operations to generate, replicate and review all beverage recipe information using the Starbucks recipe management system. Partnering with the Starbucks technology team to ensure accurate data outputs across multiple formats and with the Category Managers to create and manage SKU set-up and item management.
Creating broader impact through involvement in item production, formulation and in-store preparation to meet consumer preferences, quality standards, partner experiences and sustainability goals.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
1 Leads the technical direction for the R&D function. Research, development and optimization of processes and technologies used in the preparation of beverages and management of product information. Challenges the status quo to drive continuous business improvements
2 Leads and coaches a team of Product Information Specialists to translate product development into information management that is used by cross-functional partners across our company
3 Manages and leads projects for any business initiatives related to R&D and beverage development. Communicates with cross function on project progress
4 Ultimate owner of Oracle PIM for the broader CMP function. This involves; creating all new local item requests (NIRs) for category and marketing teams, managing all category items through ranging (UPORG), lifecycles (UPLFs) and accurate attribute content (UPAT), ensuring all relevant global items are ranged for the market and dealing with item-related queries from all departments including stores via Supply Chain Solutions. In addition to this it also involves troubleshooting item problems with help of MDIO team. Ensuring BOMs are in place and processed by Global as part of the end-to-end process.
5 Ensures key category process data is effectively managed and maintained. Including but not exclusively: · Active product lists · Product catalogues · Product and promotional fact sheets · Facilitates samples sent to markets
6 Identifies how data flows through our tech systems, assesses discrepancies and adjusts where needed to ensure correct outputs (e.g., correct ingredient information, correct depletion of products)
7 Working with Product Developers to create BOM variants required for tech solutions. Cross checking data for inaccuracies and provides support across R&D and Category in executing product launches and campaigns
8 Working with Product Developers and Operations to improve formulation and execution of beverage producta
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
· BA in Food Science (MSc preferred)
· 6+ years of experience in food/ beverage retail, manufacturing or consulting
· Strong planning and organisational skills
· Very high attention to detail, complete finisher
· An excellent written and verbal communicator
· Analytical and report writing skills
· Strong numeric and written English skills
