Job Purpose and Mission
We're looking for a Finance Business Partner to join us in our EMEA Finance team, based out of our Chiswick Support Centre. We're in a unique stage where we are growing our EMEA business and transforming the finance team for its future optimal state.
We're looking for an individual who will be a key player in the Commercial Team and relevant Licensee Accounts. You'll be deep rooted in finance knowledge and experience but hold the commercial expertise and partnership capabilities to support our licensee stakeholders.
The role provides finance support of the allocated business unit, from core financial planning, analysis, insight and reporting to decision support, including:
- Being a Catalyst for business growth, gaining business alignment to successfully identify and understand the business strategy
- On the Strategy side, the role holder will have the opportunity to provide leadership in determining strategic business direction and act as a key stakeholder in the decision-making process
- The finance business partner will help to manage risk & liabilities, protect and grow the assets of the organisation. This includes broad stakeholder management from being on point for the Licensee on financial matters, virtual teams, finance leadership, and the wider Starbucks global family
- As an Operator, balance capabilities, costs, and service levels to support effective joint business planning and provide business expertise

We're looking for a strong communicator, collaborator and relationship builder, embedding Finance within a highly dynamic business environments, and pro-actively striving for continuous improvements in the capabilities of a high-performing Finance team.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Performance Understanding
- Know what drives business results and measure what matters with actionable insight, including cashflow, planning, analysing, summarising financial strength/weaknesses, and proposing corrective actions. Using data and competitive benchmarking to build performance.
- The role will require ‘light’ reporting, which is specific to the areas of business covered by the role.
- Own planning and reporting of financial performance, providing insight to various levels of stakeholders throughout the business. This includes Plan, Forecast and Quarterly close packs
Building the Growth Agenda
- Help our business to achieve strategic, disciplined, profitable, and long-term growth. Support strategic initiatives and support performance course correction. Review, approve and evaluate investment decisions. Provide insights and analysis to influence decision making and support improved profitable performance, particularly in respect of Stores.
Licensee Consulting
- Create & protect value and guardians of the economic model. Consult with Licensees on business cases to expedite growth projects and socialising these objectives internally within Starbucks
Joint Business Planning
- Strategic planning in partnership with our Licensees
Influential Storytelling
- Help the Business Unit make better decisions by leading adoption of joint, data led, actionable insights from planning and reporting navigation.
- Steward / Risk Management
- Monitor profitability and cash, and pro-actively highlight key risks. Be a steward for Risk and Financial control. Being the P&L expert and objectively challenging commercial and operational stakeholders in the right way.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- ACCA, CIMA, ACA or similar qualified with solid experience in commercial and operational finance roles
- Provide business performance insights and recommendations to the leadership team and respective business leaders on courses of action, and results of actions
- Drive financial accountability within the business, bringing the financial voice to the table in decisions through effective business partnering.
- Ability to influence and coach is critical within a matrix structure
- Experience within a retail environment or FMCG is desirable
- Experience within a franchise operation is preferable
- Experience of providing consolidated commercial reporting and driver-based performance insight, in a multi-site environment
- Strong track record of turning complex, and ambiguous information into clear recommendations
- Exposure to areas such as Sales, Operations, Marketing and Property is desirable
- Business case development experience
- Project management experience
- Experience with systems and data management
- Strong communication and management of multiple senior internal stakeholder relationships (local, regional, corporate)
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload
- Advanced (written and verbal) communications, including presentations
- Financial modelling and advanced Powerpoint skills
