HR business partner (PRO)
The Role
We're looking for an HR business partner to support our PRO team. This role will face into finance, technology and legal stakeholders. This role contributes to success by assisting the business in developing and delivering a wide spectrum of HR/ER practices, processes and administration. This role helps Support Centre line managers to more effectively manage their teams and to plan/prepare for future development and growth of the business supporting the implementation of organisational plans.
What You'll Do:
- Ensures HR related policy and processes are implemented to support productivity, organisational growth and development of partners as part of the functional people planning process. Effectively business partners with senior managers and leaders of the business
- Implements strategic and operational plans, managing execution, and measuring results
- Provides guidance and advice to managers to ensure effective immersion plans for new starters in the Support Centre; monitors content and feeds back to senior managers as required
- Anticipates and builds functional capability by partnering with senior leaders to identify and develop key talent and manage succession
- Provides advice, education and coaching on all employee relations issues to ensure compliance with Starbucks values, guiding principles and legal requirements to both field and Support Centre managers/partners. Through the HR advisor and HR assistant, oversees administrative processes related to Occupational Health, performance management, flexible working, maternity advice, restructures and redundancies
- In partnership with learning colleagues, supports with and participates in the delivery and design of HR training (e.g. lunch and learns) as required, in order to support the development of management skills and knowledge. Coaches managers to support them in dealing with all people related issues
- Delivers expert advice and coaching to leaders and managers to drive high levels of engagement and performance, ensuring that a coaching culture permeates the organisation
- Works closely with Total Reward to ensure remuneration is fair and consistent across the business
- Supports cultural, change management and engagement programmes that reinforce Starbucks mission, values and guiding principles
- Supporting senior management on the implementation of organisational design & changes/restructures and playing a key role in the consultation process and ensuring compliance to legal requirements
- Analyses key people metrics and employee insights to identify ways of enhancing employee engagement and driving business performance, partnering with leaders across all functions
- Monitor consistency with regard to HR administration to ensure compliance to legal requirements (right to work, contractual notice for FTCs etc.)
- Support the team in producing new/amended contracts for Support Centre partners when required, ensuring that any contractual changes have been appropriately authorised
- Support Partner Resources management with the creation, continual improvement, introduction and maintenance of policies, procedures and contracts
- Deputises for the senior HR business partner when required and able to professionally represent the function at internal and external meetings
- Work with Global Mobility and EY to support with international transfer, visa applications and ICT assignments
- Support the senior HR business partner with any ad hoc project work and lead on such projects where requested to do so
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Solid experience in a fast paced HR environment
- Will have a proven track record of effective consultation with management
- Proven confidence to challenge line managers on key HR business decisions and actions
- Ability to be pragmatic and provide appropriate solutions in difficult HR situations
- Ability to be empathetic and tactful yet firm in difficult situations
- Intermediate/advanced MS Office suite experience, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Strong organisational skills including proven ability to prioritise work effectively
- Robust approach to work requiring attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to use initiative
- CIPD (Post Graduate Diploma) qualified or HR experience equivalent
- Sound knowledge of employment law
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in the work environment
- Experience of using a database system to track information
- Able to act in a composed, customer focused and professional approach at all times
- HR related experience within a retail environment
- Certification or qualification in employment law
Desirable Experience/Knowledge
- SAP knowledge
- Experience facing into finance, tech and legal stakeholders is advantageous but not essential
